Prestashop how to remove default trademark, social and other links from back-office footer

Ah yes — that stubborn PrestaShop back-office footer 😄
Good news: it’s easy to clean it up once you know where it comes from.

Below are safe + version-proof ways (no core hacking unless you really want to).

✅ Best & Safe Method (Recommended)

Remove footer links using Admin Themes → Positions

Steps:

  1. Go to Back Office
  2. Design → Positions
  3. Search for this hook:
    displayBackOfficeFooter

  4. You’ll usually see modules like:
    • ps_linklist
    • ps_socialfollow
    • ps_emailsubscription
    • ps_banner
    • or PrestaShop marketing modules
  5. Unhook the modules you don’t want
    👉 Click Unhook or Trash icon
  6. Clear cache:
    Advanced Parameters → Performance → Clear cache

✔️ This removes social links, promo links, marketing blocks, etc.

🧹 Remove “Powered by PrestaShop” / Trademark Text

This text is not from a module — it’s from the admin theme template.

Location (PrestaShop 1.7 / 8.x)

/admin/themes/default/template/footer.tpl

What to do:

  1. Open footer.tpl
  2. Find something like:
<div class="footer">
    {l s='Powered by PrestaShop'}
</div>

or

<a href="https://www.prestashop.com">PrestaShop™</a>
  1. Delete or comment it:
{* Powered by PrestaShop removed *}
  1. Clear cache again

⚠️ Note: This change may be overwritten after updates.

🔐 Update-Safe Way (Advanced / Pro)

If you want this update-safe:

  1. Copy the admin theme:
/admin/themes/default/
→
/admin/themes/custom_admin/
  1. Edit footer.tpl inside the new theme
  2. Activate it:
    • Advanced Parameters → Administration → Admin theme

This way updates won’t touch your footer.
