Ah yes — that stubborn PrestaShop back-office footer 😄
Good news: it’s easy to clean it up once you know where it comes from.
Below are safe + version-proof ways (no core hacking unless you really want to).
✅ Best & Safe Method (Recommended)
Remove footer links using Admin Themes → Positions
Steps:
- Go to Back Office
- Design → Positions
- Search for this hook:
displayBackOfficeFooter - You’ll usually see modules like:
ps_linklistps_socialfollowps_emailsubscriptionps_banner- or PrestaShop marketing modules
- Unhook the modules you don’t want
👉 Click Unhook or Trash icon - Clear cache:
Advanced Parameters → Performance → Clear cache
✔️ This removes social links, promo links, marketing blocks, etc.
🧹 Remove “Powered by PrestaShop” / Trademark Text
This text is not from a module — it’s from the admin theme template.
Location (PrestaShop 1.7 / 8.x)
/admin/themes/default/template/footer.tpl
What to do:
- Open
footer.tpl - Find something like:
<div class="footer">
{l s='Powered by PrestaShop'}
</div>
or
<a href="https://www.prestashop.com">PrestaShop™</a>
- Delete or comment it:
{* Powered by PrestaShop removed *}
- Clear cache again
⚠️ Note: This change may be overwritten after updates.
🔐 Update-Safe Way (Advanced / Pro)
If you want this update-safe:
- Copy the admin theme:
/admin/themes/default/
→
/admin/themes/custom_admin/
- Edit footer.tpl inside the new theme
- Activate it:
- Advanced Parameters → Administration → Admin theme
This way updates won’t touch your footer.
❌ What NOT to Do
- ❌ Don’t edit core PHP files
- ❌ Don’t disable random modules without checking hooks
- ❌ Don’t leave cache enabled while testing
