PrestaShop SMTP settings and testing

PrestaShop is a popular e-commerce platform, and setting up SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) for email notifications and communication is important for the proper functioning of your online store. Here are the steps to configure SMTP settings in PrestaShop and test them:

Step 1: Access PrestaShop Back Office

Log in to your PrestaShop Back Office using your administrator credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Email Configuration

1. In the Back Office, go to “Advanced Parameters” in the left-hand menu.
2. Click on “Email” under the “Email” section.

Step 3: Configure SMTP Settings

   • Port: Enter the port number used by your SMTP server. Common ports are 25 (for non-secure), 465 (for SSL), and 587 (for TLS).
   • Method: Select “Use PHP mail() function” for the default mail handling method.
2. After entering the SMTP settings, click “Save” to save your changes.

Step 4: Test SMTP Settings

Once you’ve configured your SMTP settings, it’s essential to test them to ensure that PrestaShop can send emails successfully. To do this:

1. Go back to the “Email” section in the “Advanced Parameters” of the Back Office.
2. In the “Email tests” section, you can enter an email address and click the “Send a test email” button to verify that your SMTP settings are working correctly. This will send a test email to the specified address.
3. Check your email inbox for the test email. If you receive it, your SMTP settings are configured correctly.

If you encounter any issues or don’t receive the test email, double-check your SMTP settings, credentials, and server information. Additionally, make sure that your hosting provider allows outgoing SMTP connections on the chosen port.
